Jerry Don States, born on June 30, 1945, in Prague, Oklahoma, passed away on November 19, 2024, in Noble, Oklahoma.
He was the beloved son of Grace Guffy and Henry States. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Pat Mercer, with whom he shared 55 wonderful years of marriage. He was a devoted father to Sandra Hanna of Keene, Texas, and Teresa States of Noble, Oklahoma. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Ondrea States, Courtney Agee, and Caleb Hanna, and his great-grandchildren, Emma Grace Agee and Eliza Jane Agee. Jerry was preceded in death by his siblings, Velma Harris, John States, Norma Walden, and Bobby States.
A dedicated pastor for 47 years, Jerry served in the Oklahoma and Texas Conferences. He earned his degree in Theology from Southwestern Adventist College in Keene, Texas. Before his pastoral career, Jerry served as a medic in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant E-5.
Growing up on a farm in Prague, Oklahoma, Jerry never outgrew his love for the farm life. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and colleagues in ministry.
A memorial service will be held at the Norman SDA Church on Sunday, January 5, at 11:00 AM.
