Celebrating Joan Rupe: A Legacy of Dedication and Compassion
As we bid farewell to Joan Rupe, we reflect on the incredible impact she has had on the Oklahoma Conference office and the countless lives she has touched. Joan's journey with us has been marked by dedication, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to her work and community.

Joan served the Oklahoma Conference from 1996-2024 for an impressive 28 years. Before joining us, she had a distinguished career as a paralegal for 20 years and served in the military for six years. Her roles included being an admin specialist in the Marine Corps from 1971 to 1974 and a court reporter in the Army from 1974 to 1977, skills she brought to her work at the Oklahoma Conference.
In her role before retirement, Joan found joy in working in the Trust office, where she could once again engage in legal work while connecting with individuals across the state. She also spent time serving in Human Resources, which allowed her to meet and support our workers, especially in helping them with their retirements. Joan's favorite part of her job was the personal connections she made during her many years in the payroll department and HR, and while performing duties handling the Conference insurance claims for personal injuries and church and school properties. She also mentioned appreciating the support she received as she returned to work following her husband’s tragic death and her first retirement date in July of 2021.
Joan's work ethic and dedication were evident in her professional life. She loved staying busy and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Joan remembers her colleagues, including Tamra Clark, Caroline Grove, Anna Abraham, Elder Moyer, Elder Shires, Elder Grove, and Elder Burnette, and many more as being a tremendous support to her, especially during difficult times.
At home, Joan was a devoted caregiver to her mother until her passing in December. She now enjoys spending time with her four grandchildren (the stars in her sky) and helping her daughter. As Joan embarks on her retirement, she looks forward to continuing her devotional ministry, supporting her family, and exploring new opportunities to share her testimony and messages on forgiveness. She is also excited about the possibility of opening a facility that promotes health and shares the gospel.
Joan, you have been an integral part of our team, and your presence will be deeply missed. Your dedication, kindness, and unwavering faith have left an indelible mark on all of us. We wish you all the best in your retirement and look forward to seeing the incredible things you will continue to achieve for the Kingdom of Christ!
