Fall Mini Retreat

The Durant SDA Church Women's Ministry Group had a wonderful Women's Mini Retreat on October 6, 2023, at the Durant SDA Church. The retreat was open to all denominations in the community, and it featured a message by Mrs. Marie Fisher, who is both an author and a devotional speaker, known for her travels to Oklahoma and other states. Her message was centered around the theme of "Women of Valor," focusing on the idea of women who love God, are willing to serve, and are ready to go into battle for God. The program also explored the concept of how women see themselves versus how God sees them, with four parts: The Warrior, The Zealous, The Bride, and The Prepared.

The women in attendance also enjoyed special music provided by Jan Richardson, a retired educator with 43 years of experience. Mrs. Richardson, who began taking piano lessons in the 3rd grade, became the church organist in the 7th grade and continued to play the piano and organ for the church until 2016. She also accompanied numerous choirs during her time in education.

A special thanks goes to the retreat team, Pat Young and Nakita Hudson, for their efforts in planning and decorating for the retreat. It seems like it was a spiritually uplifting and inspiring event for all who attended.
